Due to his long brown hair and beard, he became nicknamed by those on the tournament circuit as Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson. Chris is an expert at many forms of poker, in addition to No Limit Hold'Em, including Stud and HiLo Games. Due to his background in mathematics, he is highly analytical in style and is an expert in poker game theory.
In addition to his two WSOP bracelets in 2000, Ferguson has won three other bracelets and has 64 cashes. He has not had as much success on the World Poker Tour, where he has no titles and eleven ITM finishes. At some points during his career, he has participated in over 70 tournaments per year and has played extensively online. He is one of the most accomplished tournament players in the past ten years and has over $5 million in tournament winnings.
Unfortunately, for Ferguson and the rest of the old team Full Tilt Poker, they all were put under serious scrutiny after the April, 2011 Black Friday seizures by the US Department of Justice. A matter that is still being resolved as of 2013.

Chris Ferguson attended UCLA where he earned a Ph.D. in computer science (focusing on artificial intelligence) in 1999 after five years as an undergraduate and 13 years as a graduate student. His Ph.D. advisor was Leonard Kleinrock. Ferguson's parents have doctorate degrees in mathematics and his father, Thomas Ferguson, teaches game theory at UCLA.
Chris Ferguson was playing poker before age 10. In college he honed his skill on IRC playing poker for play money in chat rooms. In 1994 he began playing in tournaments in California and in 1995 entered his first World Series of Poker. Ferguson beat T. J. Cloutier at the main event of the 2000 WSOP to win the $1.5 million prize.
Chris Ferguson finished runner-up to Phil Hellmuth Jr in the 2005 National Heads-Up Poker Championship. He made the final again in 2006, but again finished second, this time to Ted Forrest.
Chris Ferguson is nicknamed 'Jesus' because of his trademark long brown hair and beard.
